Color Use

Uses many colors thoughtfully to enhance the drawing and show creativity.

Uses several colors appropriately.

Uses limited colors or colors do not match the subject.

Does not use color or only uses one color.

Effort & Care

Shows exceptional effort with careful coloring and time spent on the work.

Shows good effort and care in completing the drawing.

Shows some effort but work appears rushed.

Shows very little effort; work is scribbled or incomplete.

Talking About Art

Eagerly explains the drawing with details about choices and what it represents.

Can explain what the drawing shows when asked.

Gives a brief answer when asked about the drawing.

Cannot or will not explain the drawing.
