Data Analysis Rubric

Evaluate college-level data analysis projects for methodology, statistical techniques, visualization, and interpretation.

Criteria	Exemplary	Proficient	Developing	Beginning
Methodology & Design	Employs a rigorous, well-justified methodology appropriate to the research question.	Uses an appropriate methodology with adequate justification.	Methodology is present but has notable weaknesses.	No clear methodology; data collection is haphazard.
Statistical Techniques	Applies advanced statistical methods correctly with thorough assumption checking.	Uses appropriate statistical tests with correct interpretation.	Applies some techniques but with errors in execution or interpretation.	Statistical techniques are absent or entirely misapplied.
Data Visualization	Creates publication-quality charts with clear labels, legends, and appropriate chart types.	Includes relevant charts that accurately represent the data.	Visualizations are present but misleading or poorly formatted.	No data visualizations or they are entirely inappropriate.
Interpretation & Conclusions	Draws nuanced conclusions supported by evidence; acknowledges limitations.	Conclusions follow from the data with some acknowledgment of limitations.	Conclusions are partially supported; limitations not addressed.	Conclusions are unsupported or contradict the data.
